When news broke that Columbus Blue Jackets' budding star Adam Fantilli got a cut on his left leg during Sunday's game against the Seattle Kraken, fans wondered how long he'd be sidelined.

Unfortunately, on Wednesday, the team shared the tough news that Fantilli is expected to miss eight weeks due to a calf laceration.

"Center Adam Fantilli is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks due to a calf laceration."

It's noted that the injury could have been even worse if the rookie hadn't been wearing a Kevlar sock, which likely helped absorb the impact.

Fantilli got hurt while checking Kraken forward Jared McCann into the boards. After the hit, he limped off the ice and didn't return to the game, which ended in a 4-2 loss for the Blue Jackets.

There is a major bright side to this, and we do wish Fantilli a speedy recovery...

"The good news is Adam Fantilli's injury could have been much worse. The bad news is eight weeks from now leaves only a handful of games left in the season. Sucks to see him lose all that development time, as well. Just a bummer to happen on such a freak thing."
Said a Jackets reporter.
