During the NHL All-Star Game press conference, Bill Daly and Gary Bettman discussed the possibility of expanding the NHL to new locations.

While Atlanta and Utah have been named as potential expansion sites, Canadian media is pushing for more Canadian expansion.

However, Bettman downplayed the notion of expansion in Quebec City, stating that while the city has expressed interest, many cities are vying for an NHL franchise.

Gary Bettman maintains that Quebec is one of the cities that have demonstrated an interest in expansion. If he did not name Quebec at the start of his conference it was a simple oversight.

Talks between the league and Smith Entertainment Group regarding expansion have been ongoing since 2022, with Utah being the newest potential location to enter the running.

With news of the Arizona Coyotes having issues finding a home, and NHLPA President Marty Walsh blasting them in the media, as an incompetent franchise, one can't help but wonder, is Utah the next city to be gifted a franchise in the NHL?

This would undoubtedly upset Canadian NHL fans, as they get snubbed yet again, as Last Vegas and Seattle were the last two cities to be awarded an NHL franchise.
