Rourke Chartier, the Ottawa Senators forward, has cleared waivers and is now eligible to be sent to the AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators, according to TSN's Chris Johnston on January 31.

On January 30, the Ottawa Senators placed Chartier on waivers to reassign him to the AHL due to injuries at the start of the season. Chartier, a surprising addition to the Senators' roster this season, hadn't made an NHL team out of training camp in his career before joining Ottawa.

Before last year's call-ups by the Senators, Chartier's last NHL game was on November 11, 2018. Despite nearly doubling his career totals in games played this season, with two goals and three points over 34 games, the forward has now cleared waivers and can be reassigned to Belleville.

Chartier has a solid track record in the AHL, playing for the San Jose Barracuda, Toronto Marlies, and Belleville. Since the start of his professional career in the 2016-17 season, Chartier has accumulated 222 games played over seven years in the AHL, scoring 62 goals and 135 points. In his AHL postseason appearances, he has contributed three goals and 11 points in 18 games, making him a valuable asset in playoff scenarios.
