Former Chicago Blackhawks player Corey Perry has received a big promotion with the Edmonton Oilers, now playing on the top line alongside Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Despite being 38 years old and coming back from a two-month break, Perry is doing well in his new role.

Oilers coach Knoblauch explained that they chose Perry for his skills, like his presence in front of the net and his soft hands, which work well with McDavid and Draisaitl.

This decision paid off as Perry scored a goal and assisted in his first game on the top line.

He compliments those guys really well, and obviously he's not going to play the same minutes as Connor and Leon, but I think he adds that element of net presence, but also being able to break the puck out and getting those guys the puck.

Knoblauch said Perry complements the other players and adds value to their line. Perry is settling in with the Oilers and has scored two goals and three points in the last two games.
