A scary moment happened during a hockey game at Traverse City West High School. A player got seriously hurt and wasn't breathing on the ice. Luckily, people watching the game acted fast and helped save him.

Emergency medical technician Trevor Alworden said the player's injuries were life-threatening, but quick help from bystanders made a big difference.

"The player had life threatening injuries and immediate medical care was started by people watching the game," said emergency medical technician Trevor Alworden as per NBC 74.

Now, there's some good news. The injured player, Brady, is recovering from surgery for spine and neck injuries at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. He'll need to wear a halo for a few weeks, but he's expected to fully recover.

"As many of you know Brady was injured during his hockey game on Friday night in Cadillac and is recovering from a spine and neck injury at Helen Devos. Brady had surgery yesterday and will be in a halo for several weeks but is thankfully on his way to a full recovery.

We cannot express how thankful we are for the quick thinking Cadillac and Traverse City parents that immediately acted, performed CPR and saved Brady's life. We would especially like to thank Dr. Mark Munro who we are so thankful for and so thankful that he was at the game leading the effort.

We also thank the wonderful team at the Cadillac hospital that stabilized Brady and took such good care of all of us."

Thank you to Brady's current and former coaches and the Traverse West high school leadership team that have been in constant contact and supported us at both the Cadillac hospital and The Helen Devos hospital.

Brady's family is thankful to the parents who acted fast and saved him. They're also grateful to Dr. Mark Munro and the hospital team for their care.

They're appreciative of the support from Brady's coaches, school leaders, and the community during this tough time. They're especially thankful for all the prayers and love sent their way.
