It seems that Kent Hughes is going to attempt to wrestle the 2nd Overall pick from the Chicago Blackhawks away, in an attempt to draft Ivan Demidov.
Hughes made the offer to Kyle Davidson recently.
According to BPM Sports, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens offered Kyle Davidson defenseman Kaiden Guhle and the 5th Overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft to move up to the 2nd overall spot.
Guhle is an interesting offer, and would surely help strengthen the Blackhawks defensive core. However, is he what the Blackhawks need in a defenseman?
Guhle is a is a two-way defenseman with a great shot, who plays big minutes for the Montreal Canadiens. He has played 114 games in the NHL, posting 40 points( 10 G, 30 A) in his short time in the league.
Guhle has become a staple in the team's defense, and despite his injury troubles could arguably improve the defensive core.
But is it worth sacrificing the shot at another great winger like Ivan Demidov, or a defensive prospect such as Artyom Levshunov?
That is for Kyle Davidson to decide, come June.
Demidov is considered to be another top talent in Russia, posting 60 points( 23 G, 37 A) in 30 games in the MHL.
