$6.5M goaltender amongst 8 players placed on waivers: The Chicago Blackhawks have an opportunity
Multiple players were placed on the waiver wire by their respective teams, and it could present a unique opportunity for the Chicago Blackhawks to add some depth to the team.
Multiple NHL players were
placed on the waiver wire by their respective teams today, and they now have 24 hours to clear or else will be sent to the American Hockey League.
Some of these players could actually present a unique opportunity for Chicago Blackhawks management to consider.
Can the Blackhawks take advantage of today's waivers news?
There are a few names that stick out on the above list of players who were put on waivers today that could potentially interest the Blackhawks if they wanted to add some depth.
In the first place, large goaltender Ivan Fedotov, who didn't have the best introduction into the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers and was later sent to the Blue Jackets in a trade, still has potential to turn into a successful goaltender.
The Blackhawks could have him get regular action with the Rockford IceHogs and to be available on call in case of injury to either
Spencer Knight or
Arvid Soderblom.
Foudy, taken 18th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets, could function well in a bottom-6 role like he did in 2022-23 when he had 14 points (7G, 7A) in 63 games.
Connauton already has ample NHL experience with 360 games under his belt; adding depth defensemen is never a bad thing, and could eventually fit in well with Chicago on a rebuilding club.
