The Chicago Blackhawks failed to wait until the NHL's March 3rd trade deadline to get things going, now they have officially made a trade with the Ottawa Senators.
And reportedly, there is another move happening tonight... stay tuned
The Chicago Blackhawks have traded away NOTHING, in return, they will take on a bad contract from the Ottawa Senators, in exchange for the Blackhawks helping the Senators out. They will be also receiving a 2023 2nd round pick and a 2026 4th round pick.
This is a great move by the Blackhawks as they have plenty of cap space they are not using, may as well help a team out and receive great compensation for it.
Full trade, per sources:
To Chicago: Nikita Zaitsev, 2023 2nd Rd Pick, 2026 4th Rd Pick.
To Ottawa: Future considerations.
So the #Sens move nearly $6 million in real cash off the books on Zaitsev's deal and pay to do it. The question is ... what's next for Ottawa?
Meet your newest Blackhawk!
