With the summer offseason nearly completed, the Blackhawks have certainly been busy, working to improve their team as they continue their rebuilding phase.
Before this summer, the Blackhawks made two significant moves, particularly one during the 2022 Entry Draft when they traded Kirby Dach to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for multiple draft picks.
Dach recently appeared on a podcast where he recounted his return to Chicago after being traded away.
The gesture was a friendly reminder to the fanbase, although he admitted feeling that he should have remained with the Hawks. However, both General Manager Kyle Davidson and ownership decided to turn the page on that chapter
Now a member of the Montreal Canadiens, Dach finds himself on another team amid a rebuilding process, where he has become a vital asset to their offence. In his first year with the Canadiens, he participated in 58 games, scoring fourteen goals and providing 24 assists, amounting to 38 points, though he held a -2 rating.
While these numbers may not be particularly impressive, considering the team's ongoing rebuild, the expectation is that his performance will improve as the team progresses.
Currently, in the second year of a four-year deal worth $13.4 million, Dach carries a cap hit of $3.3625 million per season.
