The Chicago Blackhawks kicked off their trade deadline earlier than most clubs last night, on Wednesday. Last night, the Blackhawks traded (nothing) to the Ottawa Senators in exchange to take on a tough contract, Nikita Zaitsev ($4.5m), alongside the Blackhawks helping out the Senators they (Chicago) got compensated with a 2nd and 6th round draft pick.

This morning (Thursday) the Blackhawks have announced another trade, and it seems as if they have started selling EARLY, and are clearing contracts left and right... for what? We aren't sure, but this may lead to something big.

Another Blackhawks trade, per source:

Josiah Slavin to Anaheim for prospect defenseman Hunter Drew.

Drew is a 21-year-old RHD on the last year of his ELC. 11 points in 44 games for AHL San Diego. He'll be assigned to Rockford.

*correction, Drew is 24 years of age.

Meet your newest Blackhawk, he's an enforcer!
