Bruins fans experience sad reality of trading Brad Marchand, like Blackhawks fan base and Toews
Things have now taken a major turn in the city of Boston involving the trade talks surrounding Boston Bruins captain, Brad Marchand, ahead of the NHL trade deadline.
The Bruins' season, mixed with head coaching firings and hirings, has been far from the best and they now sit in the sixth spot of the Atlantic division, falling far from a playoff spot.
Plenty of time since the shocking firing of Jim Montgomery, Joe Sacco was named the new head coach, which has sparked Brad Marchand's ice time to take a significant hit, being at a career-low, and not seeing the ice for overtime on multiple occasions.
With the ways things are trending alongside reports, the Bruins are trending towards being sellers and tearing it all down.
If the reports come to fruition and they begin their rebuild, Marchand will be the first piece dangled on the NHL trade market, according to reports.
Elliotte Friedman discusses the possibility of a Marchand trade
"I think that [trading Marchand] only becomes a thing this year if Boston kind of falls out of the race. Right now, they're out of the playoffs.
Their math isn't great, either. They played more games than anybody else in the race.
Now, there's still lots of time... But if Boston takes on water, I'm really going to be curious to see where this goes.
There was a time in this year where I didn't think there was a chance that Marchand was going to be out, and now I think it's not as certain, depending on what happens here."
The Athletic's NHL reporter, Fluto Shinzawa, interview an anonymous NHL executive, and he had a lot to say, have a look:
"If they think it'll help the team, all bets are off."
With a report from reporter Allan Mitchell, he furthered the report and confirmed that the Edmonton Oilers are suitors for the Bruins captain once he comes available.
"Discussing Marchand's exit from Boston is a difficult subject and there's every chance he plays the balance of his career with the Bruins. Even if Marchand agreed to a trade, his destination may well be a city other than Edmonton.
Driving the unlikely scenario is the idea of having a rugged, tenacious outscorer with a range of skills playing on one of the Oilers' top two lines.
If he does become available, Bowman and Edmonton should be aggressive in pursuing Marchand."
Buckle up Bruins fans, and be ready to experience the heartbreak that Blackhawks fans did when they parted ways with longtime captain Jonathan Toews.
