Stan Bowman Weighs in on NHL Salary Cap Increase that affects the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers

Oilers general manager Stan Bowman took to TSN's OverDrive podcast recently, and shared his thoughts on the NHL's upcoming salary cap increases, which will be reaching new all-time highs in the next three seasons.
Bowman's response? He believes player agents will take advantage of it.
How will the NHL salary cap increase impact teams? Stan Bowman shares the managerial perspective on the salary cap jumping significant and the impact on the contracts for the players.

The Oilers general manager made a point that teams will have to adjust very quickly with the cap rising, in regards to signing new contracts, buyouts and retained salary-trades will reportedly have a different look moving forward, according to Bowman.
'I'm sure the agents just want more money for their clients.'

How this affects the Chicago Blackhawks; Bowman's comments on salary cap relief

The NHL salary cap limit is expected to reach $104 million in 2026-27. No player can exceed 20% of their team's cap, meaning the maximum cap hit would be $20.8 million. How much do you think #Oilers Connor McDavid will make annually on his next contract?

Oh, McDavid needing a new contract? How about Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard, who is still on his league-minimum entry level deal, and is the face of the franchise; Bedard will truly make Blackhawks history with how expensive the annual average will be on his next deal.
Although Bedard is in need of an expensive deal, the Blackhawks and their expiring contracts heading out the door this off-season, they are projected to have $30 million in cap space, meaning a lot more salary is available to drop on Bedard's future star linemate.
$104M cap in 26-27???

#Blackhawks have 5 current NHLers under contract through 26-27 for a total of $26M

If Bedard gets $10M and other young parts of the core get paid decent money, there is PLENTY of room for a superstar
