Chris Chelios Praises Blackhawks' Connor Bedard in Recent Interview
Chris Chelios shares his insights on Blackhawks rising star Connor Bedard during 'Back 2 You' interview.
Chicago Blackhawks legend Chris Chelios, who spent an impressive 26 seasons in the NHL, recently had his #7 jersey retired by the team. Bedard, the #1 overall draft pick, has been making waves with 17 goals and 24 assists. Let's just say Chelios knows a thing or two about talent when he sees it.
Chelios had nothing but great things to say about Bedard during Back 2 You interview
"Unbelievable. He did not disappoint. The way he carries himself and his interviews...The players can't talk enough about what a great kid he is. And he's so well-liked throughout the team. And that's first and most important for me is the way his teammates, you know, accept him.
Instead of letting his high draft selection get to his head, Bedard has remained humble and focused on contributing to the success of his team. His positive attitude and willingness to support his teammates have earned him respect both
on and off the ice.
Chelios knows the struggle of being a smaller player, he can relate to Bedard
"So I've talked to him on occasion. He's a very serious focused kid, but he is opening up a little more, it seems like in his interviews. He's got kind of a keen, dry sense of humor, but his skill level is something else. I still think he's going to grow, quite honestly. And I'm talking taller, not just stronger. He just turned 18 and I told you earlier that I grew about an inch and a half, you know, from 18 to 19-20. I hope he gets a little more size"
While Bedard's talent is evident in his gameplay, adding some weight to his frame could provide him with the necessary power to hold his own against more physically imposing players. By focusing on building muscle mass, he can enhance his ability to withstand the challenges presented by larger opponents.
