According to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, the Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward Landon Slaggert to a two-year deal holding a cap hit of 900,000 per season.

Slaggert, who is currently playing for the Rockford IceHogs who is 22 years old and stands at six feet 181 lbs was drafted by the Hawks in 2020, third round 79th overall. According to eliteprospects.com he has been pegged as a bulldozer in the game and has no issues throwing his physicality and his weight around against his opponents. He tends to dominate along the boards and in the corners.

With this biography it's clear that he is slated to be on the bottom six of the Blackhawks and likely a position on the fourth line. He had completed four years with the University of Notre Dame in the NCAA where he averaged between 22 and 31 points per year. He will be required to enter waivers starting next season which will allow the Blackhawks to send him down and back freely this season.

While it's unlikely he will be able to produce those kinds of points in the NHL, he did sign a one-way deal for both years which means he will retain the NHL salary of $900,000 regardless of which league he plays in.

For the time being, it's likely he will play with the Rockford ice hogs for the bulk of the season but if injuries plague the Blackhawks especially on their bottom 6, Slaggert will be considered for a call up.

The Blackhawks will continue their mini homestand as they take on the struggling Buffalo Sabres as the home team would like to build off their 4-2 win against the San Jose Sharks.

Game time will be October 19th and will be at 8:00 PM eastern.
