Rumours have seemed to have picked up between the Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs surrounding a couple of specific players.

Both teams will have a lot or re-signing, trading OR player hitting the free agent market this upcoming off-season which is just weeks away.

Chicago Blackhawks Unrestricted Free Agents + Restricted Free Agents:

Both goaltenders Kevin Lankinen and Collin Delia
Three defenseman Erik Gustvafsson, Calvin De Haan and Caleb Jones
Four core forwards Dylan Strome, Philip Kurashev, Dominik Kubalik and Kirby Dach.

Toronto Maple Leafs Unrestricted Free Agents + Restricted Free Agents:

Number-one Goaltender Jack Campbell
Three defenseman Rasmus Sandin, Timothy Lilegren and Ilya Lybushkin
Four forward Collin Blackwell, Ondrei Kase, Ilya Mikeyhev and Pierre Engvall

It seems as if both teams have made it clear who'll be walking, but are unsure who will be signed. Calvin De Haan, Erik Gustvafsson are seemed to be expired as a Chicago Blackhawk and Ilya Lybushkin and Collin Blackwell are as well seeming to be expired with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs and Blackhawks have two completely different mindsets heading into the 2022-23 season, for Chicago it has been stated to be a complete rebuild and for Toronto it is a win now type of approach as their roster is quite set. Meaning each team may have pieces to help each other that do not fit the teams current state, names being brought up of Dylan Strome heading to Toronto..

Dylan Strome has been proven to be a efficient two-way center-man in a scenario of having stars Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane on wing and seem to be a suggested fit to the Leafs Michael Bunting and Mitchell Marner, for the price of Strome's current contract ($3,000,000) you can expect him to receive a larger salary, but it is well worth it for a budget piece who can keep up and produce with his scoring wingers like Strome. Strome is a RFA for next season, the Blackhawks may sign and trade, let him hit the open market, or re-sign to be apart of the rebuild.

Petr Mrazek seems to be on the Chicago Blackhawk's radar in terms of Toronto Maple Leafs, as he is not a free agent but will be expiring shortly and the Leafs will be unable to pay Mrazek if they re-sign star goaltender and fan favourite Jack Campbell.

It may happen through trade, or waivers pickups but expect the Blackhawks and Leafs to make moves together this summer.
