Just one week ago, the Washington Capitals announced that Mikhail Ovechkin, Alexander's father�had passed away at the age of 71. In response to the tragic news, Ovechkin briefly left the Washington Capitals so he could spend these tough times at home.
Following a week of grief, Ovechkin rejoined the Washington Capitals and went for a morning skate with his teammates. During the Washington Capitals' practice, Ovechkin spoke with the media and was asked about his struggles throughout�the previous week. According to Ovechkin, the situation has been "the toughest i've been during my NHL career."
