BREAKING: Claude Giroux Has Been Linked to Two Canadian Teams..
Claude Giroux was traded from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Florida Panthers for Panthers Owen Tippett and multiple draft picks. The downside of that trade? Claude Giroux is a unrestricted free agent after playoffs this season, he can choose where he would like to go.
Claude Giroux was born in Hearst Ontario, and spent the rest of his life living in Gatineau Quebec (also a small drive to Ottawa). When Giroux was being dealt, there was plenty of speculation that he will return closer to his hometown rather than to another team in the United States.
Elliot Friedman expects Claude Giroux to want to settle after this season for one if not his few remaining years in the NHL, closer to home with his newborn, wife and family.
Elliot Friedman has also reported that the Montreal Canadiens could very well be one of several teams that will make an effort to acquire Giroux this off season, and has been marked as doing his research on the Ottawa Senators.
