After making 48 saves in 5 periods, Casey DeSmith exited Game 1 about halfway through the second OT. As he limped off the ice and down the tunnel, most fans were hoping for the same result as last time he left a game - muscle cramps.
But as he and Rikard Rakell were noticeably absent from morning skate, further inquiries revealed he was being evaluated for a lower-body injury, and Coach Sullivan would call upon Alex D'Orio from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton team as a backup.

Alex D'Orio has been with the WBS since 2017, and gone between them and the Wheeling Nailers since 2019.
With the Penguins, Alex has a .894 SV% in 22 games and .865% in 11 games with Wheeling.

The Penguins were seen practicing with Louis Domingue and New York's EBUG, Reid Robertson, in the nets. Domingue is Pittsburgh's third goalie, and who replaced DeSmith, made 17 saves, and helped lead the team to the 4-3 triple OT win over the Rangers.

Tristan Jarry was already ruled out through Game 2, but continues to work off-ice on his rehab.
