There honestly isn't that many bright spots to look back on in the 2021-2022 season for the Chicago Blackhawks. The team finished with a 28-42-12 record and finished second worst in the central division ahead of only the Arizona Coyotes. But although it was a rough season as a team, not everyone had rough seasons individually. Everyone certainly had their rough moments, some just had them less than others. And one of those players was Marc-Andre Fleury.
Although he was only here until the trade deadline, Fleury was without a doubt the MVP of the team until his departure. There were countless games this season that were won simply on the play of Marc-Andre Fleury. Games that the Blackhawks were simply outplayed in, they were still able to get in the win column thanks to Marc-Andre Fleury. So if this season felt rough, thank Fleury. Because if not for him, it could have been MUCH more rough.
Fleury received a B+ because he did exactly what he was brought here to do. Unfortunately for him, the pieces around him just were never able to click and his impressive play often times went unnoticed or unrewarded.
Had Fleury been able to get those 4 wins and lead the Minnesota Wild to the western conference finals, he probably gets an A-. That would have been one great last way for him to help the Blackhawks like he did so many times in 2022. Unfortunately that didn't happen though as the Wild lost in the first round the St. Louis Blues.
