Current Blackhawk Sam Lafferty came to Chicago during the 2021-22 season. It was a one for one trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Blackhawks sent the struggling Alex Nylander and received Lafferty in exchange. There were hopes for Nylander, but it was time for the Hawks to move on and it was a welcomed trade from Hawks fans. Lafferty has only been a Blackhawk since the halfway point of the 21-22 season, but he has picked up a personal fan base in his time in Chicago. Lafferty is a speedy forward who often is one of the more noticeable forecheckers. In 46 games with the Blackhawks, Lafferty has tallied 11 points with 5 of those being goals.
Former Blackhawk Martin Havlat was another fan favorite. Havlat wore a Blackhawks jersey from 2006 - 2009. Havlat was acquired in 2006 through a trade with the San Jose Sharks. The Blackhawks sent off Mark Bell and in return came Martin Havlat. Havlat quickly became noticed as he posted 25 goals in only 56 games during the 2006-07 season. Havlat would only play 35 games the next season, but played the entire 2008-09 season. During the 2008-09 season #24 scored 29 goals and finished the season with a total off 77 points - his career best. Martin Havlat served as an exciting player to watch as the hawks transitioned from bottom of the standings to Stanley cup champions. Sadly, the forward would not be resigned after the 2008-09 season and never got the chance to hoist the cup with the Blackhawks.
