Blackhawks Fans Must Cheer on The New York Rangers, and Not For Patrick Kane
Patrick Kane was reunited with former Chicago Blackhawk teammate Artemi Panarin at the end of February. The two were an elite pair, along with Artem Anisimov in Chicago at the beginning of Breadman's career,
Since Kane's arrival in New York, people have felt that the team would easily contend and make it deep in the playoffs with the elite talent available.
But, since the Hudson River Rivalry has been renewed, it should give Kyle Davidson cause for alarm.
The Rangers under Gerard Gallant last season looked like they could push far into the post-season and after besting the Pittsburgh Penguins, they were knocked out of the playoffs taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This season however, it looks like 1 and done as the New Jersey Devils currently lead the series, which spells bad news for the picks available for the Blackhawks should Kane and the Rangers fail to make it to the conference finals. That conditional 2nd round may remain a 2nd round pick if Gallant and company can't beat the powerhouse Devils, instead of becoming a 1st rounder.
The Blackhawks need all the assets they can get regardless, but the Hawks and Rangers may unfortunately both lose the trade.
