Tonight, the Blackhawks are hosting the New York Islanders at the United Center for their first meeting of the season.
The Blackhawks are currently 4-3-2 and are still sitting in a playoff position in the Central Division. The Hawks started off 0-2 after losses to Colorado and Vegas but went on a 4-game win streak and have been playing decent hockey ever since. The Blackhawks are exceeding expectations to begin the season as they keep finding ways to snag points.
The Islanders are currently 5-4-0 to begin their season and are sitting in a virtual tie for the second wild card position in the Eastern Conference. The Islanders have a +9-goal differential but are sitting in the loaded Eastern Conference playoff race.
The Blackhawks have the 6th best powerplay in the league with a 27.6 percent rate and are currently 1st in faceoff percentage at 59.8 percent. The Islanders have the best penalty kill in the league with a 96.7 percent success rate and are 6th in goals against per game with 2.67. It should be a fun matchup between both teams who have been playing good hockey recently.
