The Chicago Blackhawks have officially announced that they have signed coach Luke Richardson as their new head coach, after what feels like a long search- the NHL playoffs just ended and the Hawks will now have a early start to next season with their new head coaches system.

Richardson played 21 seasons as a NHL defenseman, he ranks 10th all time on the list of defenseman's games played and he also has a silver and gold medal at the Olympics.

Richardson has coached for the Ottawa Senators, Team Canada, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens and now he is on to a new journey in Chicago.

He has made his first statement as a Blackhawk, and it's directed towards management and our fan base. Take a read:

Blackhawks new head coach Luke Richardson's words:

"I am honored to be trusted with this opportunity to coach an Original Six franchise like the
Chicago Blackhawks," said Richardson. "I look forward to working with Kyle, Jeff Greenberg,
Norm Maciver and the rest of the Hockey Operations group in addition to having the guidance of
Rocky Wirtz, Danny Wirtz and Jamie Faulkner. Together, we will work to direct the team on a
journey that we believe will achieve success. Clear communication, a plan, hard work and
execution will lead us to that success.

Pt.2

"I plan to create an environment of trust with our team. With trust, relationships will form and
grow, thus allowing everyone to blossom and execute their role. My philosophy is to be better
today than we were yesterday and, to achieve that, we will need commitment and consistency."

Do you think Richardson is the right fit?
