Calvin de Haan calls out NHL officials for a job poorly done
Today during the Florida Panthers versus Chicago Blackhawks game, Calvin de Haan threw a huge hit against Mason Marchment. After the hit Panthers, Sam Reinhart went after de Haan and started a fight.
On the play Reinhart was not assessed any penalties beyond a fighting major, while de Haan was given 5 for fighting and 2 minutes for interference. This was a clear instance where an Instigator should have been issued to Reinhart. After the game de Haan had a lot to say about the referees poor decision.
"I didn't really think my hit was worthy of a penalty, either. kind of just glided into [Marchment] for the most part. He's a big guy and he can take it."
"I asked the refs [about an instigator penalty] and they kind of just looked at me. I don't really understand why get just 2 for that and a 5. don't know. think they're sometimes having a hard time making calls with trying to get scoring up and trying to limit the hooking and the slashing and that stuff. It seems like they get caught up in things. But you know, the game happens so quick, it's hard for those guys to do their job too, right? The game's never been faster. It's tough." - Calvin de Haan
What do you think? Do you agree with de Haan?
