Evander Kane Speaks on Ben Stelter's Impact On The Hockey World
The hockey world received two pieces of deeply saddened news on Wednesday, August 10th. Former Toronto Maple Leafs legend Borje Salming announced he was diagnosed with ALS, which does not have a cure at the moment and greatly shortens the life span.
The Edmonton Oilers good luck charm, Ben Stelter, lost his battle with brain cancer. Ben was just six years of age, and went through over 30 sessions and two chemotherapy treatments to remove the tumor, it got removed and sadly came back around December of last year. Ben was the strongest individual ever, despite having all troubles in his way Ben still showed up and support his Edmonton Oilers with a smile on his face each and every night.
When Ben was introduced to the Oilers team, they went on a nine game winning streak to end the season! And had great success in the playoffs, Ben was known for his infamous 'Play La Bamba Baby'' video!
Today, Evander Kane took to social media to speak on the great impact Ben had on the Edmonton Oilers, and how strong of a individual Ben was from Evander's standpoint.
Ben you're a true warrior and are
such a inspiration to all of us. Your
strength, determination, courage
and love beamed through the
hockey world and especially our
team. I'm going to miss your fist
pumps before the games. To the
Stelter family we send our love and
support.
