Former Popular NHL Coach Wants to Come Back and Coach an Original 6 Team
He is one of the best NHL coaches of all time and Barry Trotz may come back to the NHL.
Trotz announced that if he were to come back and coach, it would be for an Original 6 team. If you didn't already know, the Original 6 consists of the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Original 6 are the teams that kickstarted the NHL back in 1926, 96 years ago.
If the Hawks hadn't just hired Luke Richardson as their Head Coach this Offseason, my first choice would be Barry Trotz.
But since Chicago is having success with Richardson, I think Barry may go to Toronto. The Maple Leafs Head Coach, Sheldon Keefe, may be on thin ice, as well as GM Kyle Dubas, despite Dubas building good teams. But The Leafs can't capitalize and show it out on the ice, being a guaranteed 1st Round exit every year. Barry Trotz will be a huge improvement over Sheldon Keefe, and maybe guarantee them a spot past the 1st Round, if not win a Cup in the near future.
