The Kings got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Phillip Danault. His 26th of the year gave the Kings a 1-0 lead, which is how the scoreboard would stay until the first intermission.
LA was also first to find the back of the net in the 2nd period with a goal from Anze Kopitar, his 19th on the year. Right place right time for Kopitar as he was able to deflect this one from a shot off the stick of Alexander Edler. The Blackhawks would cut the lead in half and make it 2-1 with a power play goal from Patrick Kane. Great goal from Kaner here, but this play was made by Seth Jones who had a pretty nifty poke check while falling backwards to keep the Kings from taking the puck into their zone. The score would remain 2-1 until the end of the 2nd period.
Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, the Kings were the only ones able to find the back of the net in the final period with goals from Andreas Athanasiou and Trevor Moore. So the Blackhawks lose via final score of 4-1. Not a terrible performance compared to some of the recent games the Blackhawks have played. Even with the loss, the moments of effort were clearly there tonight which is all that can be asked of this team down the stretch. A solid effort. The Blackhawks will be back in action on Saturday on the road against the San Jose Sharks.
