Nick Foligno has had a solid start to his Blackhawks career, taking on the role of mentor and veteran leader as the young Blackhawks roster begins to take shape. Through eight games, Foligno has scored one goal and provided three assists for a total of four points.

The Blackhawks were on the road and made a stop at Mullet Arena to face off against the Arizona Coyotes. With less than 4 minutes remaining in the first period, Coyotes' left-winger Liam O'Brien decided to challenge Foligno to a fight, as he had instigated it in the first place.

Foligno wasted no time and immediately started landing several powerful blows in a fierce battle between both men.

Foligno quickly overpowered O'Brien, and as he skated off to the penalty box, the cameras revealed the extent of the damage inflicted on O'Brien. Foligno had managed to land several blows to his face, with the video showing a black eye forming on his left eye.

The fights continued as the Blackhawks were struggling with the score at 7-1. With a minute left in the 2nd period, Jack McBain and Blackhawks Jarred Tinordi were trade words which caused their gloves to drop and both felt it was their boxing turn. Aside from many misses by both, Tinordi managed to land a couple of shots on McBain.

It remains uncertain how long Foligno will stay with the Hawks, as there is a possibility that he could be traded at the deadline this year to strengthen a team for a deep playoff run. However, it is also possible that he may choose to stay and continue mentoring the team.

The final score in this game was 7-1.
