Jonathan Toews entered this season after an exhausting offseason filled with trade rumors with a massive chip on his shoulder. He wanted to prove to himself and to everyone that he can still play at an elite level. So far this season, he is proving that he can.
Toews has 7 goals and 3 assists in 15 games this season, which is only 5 goals less than he scored through 71 games last season. While that alone is considered a win for the Hawks, Toews has been playing at an elite level in the faceoff circle.
Over the last 3 games, Toews has only lost 14 faceoffs in 67 tries, which equates to a mind boggling 79.1 percent faceoff win percentage. This season, Toews sits at a 64.3 faceoff win percentage, which is good enough to rank him 2nd in the league in that stat category. Taylor Raddysh had some words to describe this unreal play by Jonathan Toews to begin the season.
Toews has been consistently one of the best skaters on the ice for the Blackhawks on a nightly basis this season. While the offense has slowed down as of late, Toews is keeping the team alive in the faceoff circle and looks to continue his stretch of great play as the season continues onward.
