NHL Insider Reveals The Toronto Maple Leafs Have Found Their New Goaltender
The Toronto Maple Leafs had another disappointing season, moving forward many are in question of what changes are needing to be made- one is goaltending.
Jack Campbell is currently a free agent and can hit the open market as he and his camp are looking for a $5,000,000 plus contract which the Maple Leafs may not be able to afford due to their hefty contracts already given out to current players on the team like Austin Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly.
Chris Johnston of TSN reported that the Maple Leafs may have found their next goalie target, and it's a former Stanley-cup winning goaltender Matt Murray.
Murray has battled injuries throughout the past few seasons and is hoping to be healthy for the 2022-23 upcoming season. Murray recently signed a hefty $6,250,000 contract with the Ottawa Senators and is on the long-term injury reserved list, Toronto is in hope for the Senators to relieve/retain cap space if a deal is worked out for both sides.
