This raises a question for Blackhawks fans of why some players don't get that recognition in Chicago?
There are guys like Chelios, Roenick, Larmer, and some others who had great careers in Chicago, but haven't had their jersey raised to the rafters. So soe are asking why that is following the news of Chris Neil.
Well, for starters, Chicago is a historic and storied franchise that has been around since the beginning of hockey. There are just so many players who could have their jersey retired, but the organization can't just hand out recognition like that.
Chris Neil was a cornerstone for the team for a while, even though he didn't have eye popping stats.
With the Senators not being as storied as the Blackhawks, they can afford to handout the recognition to guys that were around for a long time, regardless of their stats.
Having your jersey retired by a team is an incredible honor, but for the Blackhawks, you need to be the best of the bets in order for that to happen, as there has just been so many talented players to black in the red and black.
