The trade deadline is in full swing as we've already seen teams in the league make early pushes to solidify their rosters for a Stanley Cup push. Patrick Kane has reportedly not yet made a decision on whether or not he is staying in Chicago or going to explore other options via trade.
It has been revealed that Kane will only submit Kyle Davidson one specific team he is willing to go to instead of providing a list of teams like you would see in other scenarios. Multiple teams have been reported as "all in" on Kane, but his lack of clarity on a decision has only stalled the process and allowed the Rangers to acquire Tarasenko instead.
While Kane's play has improved recently as he put on an absolute clinic against Toronto, only allowing a trade to one team drastically changes the return the Blackhawks could seek.
The Blackhawks certainly are losing the ability to create a bidding war for Kane's services if he decides to leave Chicago. If Kane chooses a team to be traded to, the Blackhawks can't fairly control what they can get in return because of Kane's status. He has done so much for this franchise in his career, so Davidson would absolutely need to do right by Kane and fulfill his wish. Obviously everyone is hopeful that Kane does decide to stay in Chicago and finish out his career in a Blackhawks sweater, this entire situation is less than ideal.
