The Blackhawks 3 game road trip came to an end today with a loss against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. This loss comes following two straight wins from the Blackhawks against the Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings. The Blackhawks looked to be on their way to a third straight road win today after two periods against the Golden Knights. However, after a struggle filled 3rd period, the Blackhawks found themselves in overtime and ultimately only ending up with one point on the day taking the loss in overtime. So the Blackhawks end the three game road trip with a 2-0-1 record. Their next game will be back at the United Center on Monday night against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Blackhawks had 4 different players find the back of the net today. Dominik Kubalik provided the first goal of the game, giving the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead. A lead that they would hold until the end of the first period. The Blackhawks would then extend their lead in the 2nd period with goals from Jonathan Toews and Dylan Strome. The third period would be all Vegas for the most part. The Golden Knights scored three unanswered goals from Chandler Stephenson, William Karlsson, and Jack Eichel. Alex DeBrincat would put the Blackhawks back on top with his team leading 37th goal of the season for a 4-3 lead.

However, Alex Pietrangelo would tie the game at 4 with a wrist shot from just inside the blue line. And then in overtime, Evgenii Dadonov would complete the comeback and win the game for the Golden Knights by a final score of 5-4.

Although he didn't have a the best 3rd period today, Kevin Lankinen really has been looking better as of late. His game against Anaheim was much better than Blackhawks fans have been used to seeing this season. And it was more of the same today other than the 3rd period. The Blackhawks coaching staff and fans will be hoping that he can continue to keep up the improved play, as he will be seeing a lot more time in net as the season winds down with the departure of Marc-Andre Fleury to Minnesota.
