As the season progressed Blackhawks fans began to realize that the chemistry of this team was special, as they could follow along with the creation of Blackhawks TV. The dream team was composed of a nearly perfect blend of veterans: Hossa, Campbell, and Seabrook, and rookies Kane and Toews. Which led the 2010 season to ba a euphoric set of events with an all star team that knew how to play to win.
Patrick Kane ultimately led the Hawks to the cup with his game 7 overtime goal, if you listen closely you can still hear Pat Foley's «hawks win» echo in the background. Leading up to the playoffs Kaner had given just a preview of what soon would grant him his showtime nickname; playing 82 games in the regular season, and racking up 58 assists and 30 goals matching his number at 88. The momentum only continued into the playoffs where he scored 10 goals with 18 assists.
Johnothan Toews became the youngest Captain in nhl history at just 21 years old and was assisted by Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp. A move that many might have deemed questionable to have someone so young leading the team Toews very early in the season bagan to prove himself by scoring in 12 consecutive games during the regular season and dominating the playoffs with 29 points, 7 goals and 22 assists. Along the way he also picked up a shiny gold Olympic Medal for Canada.
Marian Hossa was on a career high having been in Stanley Cup playoffs in 2008, and 2009, when the Hawks signed the right wing to a 12 year contract. Hossa brought the hunger for the cup to an all time high and despite missing the first 22 games of the season due to a shoulder surgery, he scored 51 points in the regular season and 15 in the playoffs.
So when we pan to the present day standings of the Blackhawks going through a rebuild, we have to keep in mind the 2010 dream team was once a rebuild.
