So with the Wild season coming to an end, Fleury made some interesting comments regarding his future as an NHL goalie. Michael Russo of The Athletic took to twitter to write what Fleury had to say. The tweet said quote "At age 37 and entering his 19th season, Marc-Andre Fleury said hi plan is to «go one year at a time from now on» because «it's not going to last forever.» But he reiterated he plans to test free agency but it would be "very appealing" to return to the #mnwild"
The part that stood out to me was the testing free agency bit. What teams should Fleury consider, and should the Blackhawks be on that list? In short, no. Even though it was cool seeing Fleury in a Blackhawks sweater. Even though had he not been traded he most certainly would have been the MVP of the season for the Blackhawks. All of that is true. But it simply would go against everything Kyle Davidson had said up to this point. Going out and re-signing Marc-Andre Fleury is not a rebuilding move. If Davidson did that it would be a page right out of Stan Bowman's book, literally. And that is worst book to be ripping pages from in Kyle Davidson's shoes.
The only reason I could MAYBE see Fleury considering is because to my knowledge his family is still living in Chicago. And that was a very big factor to him when considering teams to be traded to this past trade deadline. But other than that, the move doesn't really make any sense for either parties involved.
