The Detroit Red Wings Did The Ultimate Class Act to Surprise Moritz Seider at The NHL Awards
The Detroit Red Wings have been a struggling franchise throughout the past few years in the NHL but it is slowly changing and their future seems brighter than mosts as the youth they have developed have proven to play at a high level as well as have a huge future ahead of them, Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond being Detroit's main two stars of the future.
Seider put on a unbelievable clinic within his first season around the league, putting up a impressive 50 points in 82 games played as a defenseman aside from the defensive play he contributed with his size, skill and speed.
His unreal rookie season performance earned him a top 3 Calder Trophy canidate beside Anaheim Ducks Trevor Zegras and Toronto Maple Leafs Michael Bunting, Seider took home the trophy for the first time in Detroit Red Wings history.
Sadly the award show was hosted in Tampa Bay where the cup final was taken place, which is a whopping 17 hour drive from Detroit- meaning Seider's teammates could not be present while awarded the trophy.. but that did not stop the organization from shining bright.
General manager Steve Yzerman, Owner Chris Illitch and forward Dylan Larkin took the flight to surprise Seider as his family was unable to be there, the Red Wings made sure he had company!
