While all three of these NHL stars are currently signed to multi-year deals, that doesn't exclude them from the possibility of being traded. The busiest time in the NHL is about to hit us, and players will be moved.

We are going to concentrate on three players who could be traded and soon.

David Pastrnak

When general manager Don Sweeney decided to fire head coach Bruce Cassidy, Pastrnak made it known that he was not a fan of the idea. The other issue Pasta could have is he really doesn't want to be part of a team if they go into a rebuild mode.

With four key players injured and not ready to begin the new upcoming season, Pastrnak may feel it's time to leave. It certainly displays the current trend that star players can somehow control what a GM does with the roster if they are not happy.

Pastrnak is signed through the 2022-23 season for a very reasonable $6.6 million and collected 77 points in 72 games this season. Make no doubt about it, if things aren't healed and healed quickly in a manner acceptable to Pasta, he will demand he be moved. We shall see.

William Nylander

If the rumors about Nylander being traded ever come to fruition, we may all be more content in our hockey world. But, with the way the Toronto Maple Leafs have performed (or not performed), in the postseason, it comes as no surprise that the talented forward is in the NHL news once more.

Nylander is signed through the 2023-24 season at a good rate of $6.96 million. Teams who need a scoring forward may come calling. GM Kyle Dubas may not have any choice but to move him if he intends to keep his goalie Jack Campbell. There's no room for both... so make your choice Kyle.

Frankly, going forward with a trade like this may be his best option.

The Coyotes get Nylander and Timothy Liljegren plus a 2024 first rounder and the Leafs get Jakob Chychrun and Lawson Crouse plus a 2024 third rounder. See how that works?

Brent Burns

Burns is signed for three more seasons when he would turn 40 years old. He's in great shape and contributed 54 points while not missing a game in 2021-22. He is well known for his offensive contributions and could be a power play quarterback for a team wanting to trade for him.

The sticking point may be his $8 million cap hit and that he has a no-trade clause which only lists three teams. Ok, he's selective, we get that.

At 6'-5", 230 pounds, he is a force to be reckoned with on the blueline and is never afraid to jump into the offensive zone at a whim.

The Sharks have made it known that either Burns of Erik Karlsson could be on the move. With Karlsson's humongous $11.5 million contract dragging the Sharks down for five more years, the best candidate to move would be Burns.

We should know fairly soon if any or all of these three NHL stars will stay put or be on the move. Stay tuned, this is going to good!
