After finally being able to put the 22-22 season to rest, Blackhawks fans are stuck wondering what's left. Transitioning into a Kyle Davidson era rebuild, there are certain aspects of the team and its future to be excited about.
1. Sam Lafferty's contract extension
A player who can check someone into the boards and score a goal shortly after brings an energy the Blackhawks have been lacking the past few seasons. A strong enforcer who can produce is exactly the type of player the Blackhawks need, and they'll have it for the next two years.
2. #Dadline
The Blackhawks' top line for the last few months of the season consisted of Patrick Kane, Dylan Strome and Alex Debrincat, and together they could win a faceoff and charge down the ice to score. If Strome resigns in Chicago, this line which he's dubbed the «Dad line» since the birth of Debrincat's newborn son Archie, may remain the main source of the Hawk's points.
3. The possibility of a new coach
Fans have been itching for change since Jeremy Colliton was fired in November of 2021. Derek King was put in as the interim head coach for the rest of the season, but Davidson plans to find someone to fill the position by early July.
