In a sad turn, the Columbus Blue Jackets' third overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, Adam Fantilli, faced a tough night against the New York Islanders.

Fantilli, a promising rookie, did his best with two goals and an assist, briefly putting the Blue Jackets ahead 2-1 in the second period. Fantilli showed resilience, securing his first multi-goal game in the NHL amidst tragedy.

After the game, he shared that he played with his grandmother's recent passing in mind, using it as extra motivation. It's clear he's going through a tough time, and we send him our thoughts and prayers.

While Fantilli's on-ice performance is noteworthy, it's crucial to acknowledge the personal challenges he's dealing with. Our thoughts are with him. Despite the team's struggles, Fantilli's determination may make him a strong contender for the Calder Trophy, even with tough competition from players like Bedard. Currently, he's tied for second in rookie scoring with 15 points, just behind Connor Bedard.
