Larkin recently spoke on his disappointment with the franchise missing the playoffs for the 6th year in a row, saying that the Detroit Red Wings need to play for pride, not candy.
Dylan Larkin grew up in Michigan, and while in his first year at the University of Michigan in 2014, he was drafted by the Red Wings in the 1st round, 15th overall. He was then sent to the Grand Rapids Griffins, Detroit's AHL affiliates. He was called up to the Wings in the 2015-16 season, and has been there ever since. In 2018-19, he was given the «A» for his sweater, and was made Captain at 24 in January of 2021.
He is out for the rest of the season due to surgery, but finished with 69 points over 71 games, with 31 goals and 38 assists.
