A Winnipeg brewery will provide free beer for life to Barry Trotz if he comes home to coach the Jets. One must admit, it's quite an offer to consider. Seriously, it just displays how intense the concept of getting Trotz to Winnipeg is turning out to be.
With numerous head coaching gigs open, Trotz is taking his time on where he wants to coach next. Could this offer seriously sway his decision? Doubtful, but still fun to chat about here.
There were some rumors that the Vegas Golden Knights were about to offer Trotz a contract, but that hasn't happened just yet. But Barry, hold out dude! If Vegas really wants you, they may offer you something better than beer to go to Sin City!
It would be a homecoming for Trotz to go to Winnipeg. Trotz was born in Manitoba and started his coaching career in the Province with a junior team.
Trotz would be a perfect fit for the Jets. Winnipeg has struggled on defense and Trotz is known for implementing and maintaining a tough to play against defensive system. The perfect example of this is what Trotz did with the New York Islanders.
The year before Trotz arrived with the Islanders, they allowed the most goals in the NHL during the 2017-18 regular season. During the Islanders' first year under Trotz's leadership, the Islanders won the Jennings Trophy for the least amount of goals allowed during the season. I'll drink to that!
If that is what the Jets are striving for, they better let Barry know. We're not even sure if Trotz likes beer, but it may not matter. It's certain that he is evaluating other positive reasons to coach in Winnipeg.
Other than that Barry, is the next round on you?!
