The Chicago Blackhawks and general manager Stan Bowman have made a pretty significant roster move. According to Scott Powers of The Athletic, Bowman has locked up one of his trade deadline acquisitions to a new contract. Powers reports that the team has signed forward Henrik Borgstrom to a two year contract. The 23 year old was acquired at the deadline from the Florida Panthers where he had chosen to play overseas this season. Borgstrom was the Panthers first round pick back in 2016 and Bowman really likes his potential. «When you look at his best game, it's pretty impressive. This year, we've been watching him play in Finland and his skill set is very noticeable. He's a big, tall kid, long arms, good reach. He's got the frame, athletic body, skater, hands and he can do a lot of different things with the puck. There's tremendous upside. Obviously he has to turn that potential into reality. But he's the kind of player you get excited to work with and we certainly want to do that next season.»
Powers adds that Borgstrom will likely play a key role next season.
