BREAKING: NHL suspends and fines head coach $50,000 in shocking move
The NHL has handed down a suspension to Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella following Saturday night's incident.
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Tortorella will sit out for two games as a result of his actions.
The league has officially confirmed this, along with imposing a hefty fine of $50,000.
Tortorella's clash with veteran NHL referee Wes McCauley sparked widespread attention on social media, leading to the suspension. While the punishment may sting for Tortorella, known for his fierce dedication to his team, Flyers boss Dan Hilferty has publicly backed him. Hilferty even offered to cover any fines incurred by Tortorella, demonstrating his support for the coach.
