It was a big turning of the page for everybody involved last year. The Chicago Blackhawks lost two of their key defenseman that played such a huge role in their Stanley Cup runs. Brent Seabrook basically retired and Duncan Keith requested a trade out of Chicago. For Keith it was an emotional request and one that had to be done as the pandemic had created a roadblock in regards to him seeing his son. With the border closed and lots of red tape, the solution was to head back to Canada. Everybody was understanding of the situation including fans and Keith will never forget it. «I'm grateful for that,» Keith said. «Obviously, I've got a lot of good memories in Chicago, too many to count. A lot of close friendships. But also, the people in Chicago and the fans, you grew to love them, too. For them to understand, I'm just grateful for that. I will always have a special place in my heart for the fans in Chicago and the people and the city and the organization. I'm glad it was able to work out the way it did.»«I feel good and I'm still having fun,» Keith said. «And Colton wants me to keep playing. I think that's part of why I like to play now, too, is to try to give him the memories of coming in here, seeing me play, meeting the players, hanging out with McDavid and Draisaitl and the whole team. I get to give him and my nieces and nephews those experiences. It's fun for me, and he loves it.»Keith has 5 points in 17 games so far this season for the Oilers.
