According to all reports, the Chicago Blackhawks will be looking to dump a couple of contracts before the trade deadline. One name we've heard mentioned in rumours since last year is veteran defenseman Duncan Keith. A Keith trade is more complicated than it seems for many reasons. To start, Keith has a full no movement clause and considering how close he is with his family, it's unlikely he wants to move. However indications continue to point to Keith maybe being pushed out by the organization. Between him and Brent Seabrook, Keith is clearly the more tradeable of the two and according to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Hawks are hoping he's willing to move. «I find it hard to believe that Duncan Keith would switch teams, but I will tell you this — the Hawks will go to him right before the trade deadline and say, what do you want to do?' He has a full no-trade clause. Four more years on his deal at $5 and half million,»
«(Keith) decides his future. He's a legacy player, yes for Chicago. But I think (general manager) Stan Bowman and the hierarchy in Chicago will go to him and say, what do you want to do? Do you want to go to a contender or stay here with the rebuild. That conversation will happen,» LeBrun continued."The Blackhawks will likely miss the playoffs for the second year in a row.
