Major Update Regarding The NHL's New Jersey Manufacture
Adidas has been the manufacturer of NHL on-ice and retail authentic jerseys since the 2017-2018 season, but will be phased out after 2023-2024. Fans and collectors have been disappointed by the limited availability of on-ice jerseys, which are higher priced than the lower quality Fanatics breakaways.
However, there is promising news about Fanatics taking over in 2024. According to a tweet from Ali Murji, Fanatics plans to manufacture more in Canada and bring on board experienced product people who have worked on NHL jerseys all the way back to the CCM days.
SP Uniforms, the current maker of Adidas on-ice jerseys, will make Fanatics retail authentic jerseys, which will be Made-In-Canada, a feature typically reserved for higher-end Adidas jerseys. This is good news for fans who have been waiting for better-quality retail products since Reebok took over the manufacturing of NHL jerseys with the Indo-Edge product line. While there is no word on pricing yet, this commitment to providing a better-quality retail product than what Adidas currently offers is promising for all fans.
