He arrived in Rockford, with Kevin Korchinski, and Louis Crevier after last night's devastating loss to the Minnesota Wild, 7-2.
Luke Richardson was made available to the media today, and of course, after the big move to send these three prospects to the AHL, was asked why Nazar was a part of the group sent to the minors.
Nazar while he did score his first NHL, in his first 3 games at the end of last season he didn't seem to make a big enough impact to justify keeping him up here.
He'd not have the kind of ice time needed to continue to develop in Chicago, so in Rockford, he's afforded big minutes in the AHL.
Not only is Richardson justified in his assessment of Nazar, as he gets more utilization in Rockford, on special teams, and on the 1st line.
Nazar played his 1st game with the IceHogs today, scoring 2 points(1 G, 1 A) against the Iowa Wild and earning the 1st star of the game.
In 2023-2024, he played 47 games with the University of Michigan, scoring 41 points( 17 G, 24 A), and would play 3 games with the Blackhawks scoring his 1st NHL.
If anything, Nazar and the rest of the squad sent to the AHL should get plenty of experience, while the rebuild continues and it is their time to slot into the NHL lineup, which could be sooner than later.
