According to many pundits in the NHL, the Chicago Blackhawks must draft Artyom Leshunov with their second choice overall in the 2024 entry draft.
After landing
Connor Bedard last year at first overall and drafting
Kevin Korchinski also in the first round the case needs to be made for the Blackhawks to land Leuhunov as he currently stands at six foot two 209 lbs and he is only 18 years old.
He checks off many boxes that the Blackhawks would need including a right-handed shot defenseman which are at a premium in the league, he has great size and has physicality to his game which gives the Blackhawks more depth on their blue line it would be the cornerstone of their defence corps. He also would develop his offensive game which would help the Blackhawks on their power play and the ability to move the puck out of the zone.
Levshunov had a great year with Michigan State
He currently plays for Michigan State University in which he finished his freshman year and had shown great development in his game. He played 38 games, scoring nine goals with 26 assists for 35 points and was a plus 27.
As much as offence is a great thing to draft, having a player of his caliber and size landing right at their feet at 2nd overall isn't all but certaint talent. It will come down to what Davidson envisions and if he chose differently, it's likely Levshunov would be not on the board for very long.
