The NHL has plenty of storylines and trends for you to follow during the regular season. New players find new homes, rookies excel in the lineup and of course, Superstars like Connor McDavid can control the narrative.

The Blackhawks will have their own storylines, which include Connor Bedard.

Bedard's Sophomore Year

Bedard will be entering his sophomore season in 2024-2025, as we follow the 19-year-old and see how he performs this season. Will have have a 100-point sophomore season? Or will he go into a slump?

He's the newest face of the NHL and has drawn plenty of people into the game itself. We will have the advantage of seeing Bedard with an improved NHL roster and possibly sharing the same line as Tyler Bertuzzi and Teuvo Teraveinen.

So of course, you have to wonder how much better will he do with more talent surrounding him. Will he be more of a playmaker or decide to come out of the gate skating and shooting fast? more importantly, will he develop into the player, we and the Blackhawks expect him to be?

New Guys

The new guys in the lineup always garner heartfelt reactions from fans, which included in the past players like Marc-Andre Fleury, Alex Stalock, Sam Lafferty and Bradon Hagel win fans over quickly.

One of those could be Teuvo Teraveinen, who is the exact type of player the Blackhawks need. He will help improve the lineup, and as fans are already familiar with him, will love him. He's a two-way forward and highly skilled.

Fans will come to love Tyler Bertuzzi, who is a gritty power forward who will go into the dirty spots many forwards won't. Bertuzzi will gain fans, by playing his game and it could be as simple as laying a hit, protecting Connor Bedard, and scoring a big goal.

Last Alec Martinez, who's already infamous for the 2014 Playoffs against the Hawks. However, he is a tough defenseman who will block shots, defends the rush, and is responsible with the biscuit. Being a great guy helps as well.

Breakout

Last year, we saw Phillip Kurashev break out in 2023-2024 as he was paired with Connor Bedard. He had an impact that no one could've known on the Blackhawks.

Kurashev would follow up 2022-2023's 25-point season, with a 54-point season next to Bedard.

Who will be this year's breakout? Of course, if it was easy to predict, we'd know but someone we could see more from is Kevin Korchinski.

If he did as the Blackhawks wanted, improving his skillset and his physicality we could see him breakout in 2024-2025. While he may be in a sheltered role again in the Blackhawks, we could see him paired with someone like TJ Brodie.

This could allow Korchinski time to develop further, with little to no pressure on the bottom pairing.

Lastly, if Lukas Reichel finds his game, we could see him play above expectations. He is still young and we have to remember how long it took Alexis Lafreniere and Quinton Byfield to find themselves in the NHL.
