Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk's Rule Breaking With the Stanley Cup could be trouble
The Florida Panthers own Matthew Tkachuk has broken a major Stanley Cup Rule.
It's been reported that Tkachuk could be in trouble.
After defeating Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers in a brutal Stanley Cup series, Tkachuk celebrated in a ridiculous way.
The story went viral as Tkachuk took the Stanley Cup for a dip in the ocean:
While it is a funny and heartening visualization of a celebration, free and in the moment, could Tkachuk find himself in trouble?
"It turns out that salt water and money don't mix, and he wasn't allowed to take the Cup into the ocean."
Tkachuk would be interviewed about the moment:
«I didn't know it wasn't allowed, I promise you that.
It was the day after the win, I still hadn't slept at that point, and it was just me and a couple of my teammates. We didn't have anybody there to say, Matthew, don't be an idiot, don't do that.' So I thought it was appropriate, but if I had known I wasn't supposed to do it, I wouldn't have done it, but also, I think it's kind of funny.»
- Matthew Tkachuk
He would also mention, Brad Tkachuk is responsible for the idea:
«My brother said, The ocean is right there, why don't you go there with the Cup right now.' I said, That's a great idea. We'll do that.'
I guess I didn't give him credit when I was first asked that question, and he was pretty mad at me, so he deserves credit for that.»

It's hilarious how Brady goaded him into getting into possible trouble, of course, this was purely innocent fun! Tkachuk had no idea what the ramifications were, and shouldn't be fined.
